Shashank Khaitan Biography

Shashank Khaitan Education

St. Xavier’s High School in Pune served as Shashank Khaitan’s primary educational institution until he graduated from the University of Pune.

Shashank Khaitan Early Life

Khaitan spent his childhood and high school years in Nashik, Maharashtra, even though both of his parents were born in Kolkata. He has always liked movies, but at first he was more into sports, especially cricket and tennis. He decided to go into the entertainment business when he was only 17 years old. He first became well-known as a travelling dance teacher and event host. He was optimistic that he could reach his goals in Mumbai.

Khaitan went to Whistling Woods International Institute because he wanted to get a job in the movie business. He says that the institute gave him the technical training he needed and that the teachers, many of whom work in the film industry, made him feel comfortable on the set by asking students to join them often. Khaitan’s first movie, Sherwani Kahaan Hai, was partly shot at Whistling Woods with the help of some of his peers, but the project failed in the end.

Khaitan worked as a production assistant on Subhash Ghai’s Black & White and Yuvvraaj in 2008. He also played Manohar in Arundhati Sen Verma’s Roorkee By-Pass. In the Disney dance drama ABCD 2, which starred Varun Dhawan, he had a small part as a judge at the first round of the World Dance Championship in Bengaluru.

Before that, he was in Ishaqzaade, a romantic action movie with Arjun Kapoor that was written by Habib Faisal and made by Yash Raj Films. Khaitan played Parma Chauhan’s brother Dharma Chauhan, which was one of Kapoor’s roles.

Shashank Khaitan Career

The first idea for Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania was that it would be about a pair of con artists, like Bunty and Babli. But as he kept writing, he realised that his characters were sweeter and more charming than he had thought. Khaitan says that DDLJ and Casablanca were the inspiration for the story, and the movie makes references to both of those films as well as Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.

Khaitan tried to make the characters more approachable and real while still telling an epic love story to back up his claim that Bollywood hasn’t made a great love story since Jab We Met. He defends the movie by saying that the fact that it uses some old Bollywood tropes, like the approval of the parents, shows how little Indian society has changed since DDLJ came out.

After Khaitan finished the first draught of his script, which was called Humpty Sharma Di Love Story at the time, he gave it to Dharma Productions. Karan Johar said that Dharma Productions would make the movie after how excited he was about the script. He also said that he wasn’t sure if Khaitan would be the director. Johar gave Khaitan the go-ahead to direct the movie after he made a few changes to the script.

In the past, most directors at Dharma were promoted from within. In this case, however, all of the directors were once assistants. Khaitan chose Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt for his film after seeing them in Student of the Year. Khaitan told everyone working on the project to “keep it real” and be ready for each moment before it was recorded. The movie did very well at the box office after it came out in July 2014.
