Sanjay Leela Bhansali was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, on February 24, 1963. In 2015, the Indian government gave him the Padma Shri award for all that he had done. His parents were the film producer Navin Bhansali and the seamstress Leela Bhansali. He was born into the Gujarati Kshatriya (Solanki) caste. His sister’s name is Bela Segal.
He was once engaged to the choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant, but the relationship between them ended.

Sanjay got a job as an assistant director after he finished school. On the movies 1942: A Love Story and Parinda, which were both directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, he worked with him. Khamoshi: The Musical (1996), which he wrote and directed, did not do well at the box office, but it got high marks for what it was about. Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, his second movie as a director, was shown for the first time at the International Film Festival of India in 1999. It was in the Indian Panorama section and got a lot of praise.
Devdas (2002), his third movie, had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in 2002. It is India’s Oscar entry for Best Foreign Language Film. In 2005, his movie Black won an amazing eleven Filmfare awards.
