Nimrat Kaur Education
Nimrat Kaur was born in the Indian city of Pilani to a Sikh family. Her younger sister Rubina works as a psychologist in Bangalore. Her father, Major Bhupinder Singh, SC, was an officer in the Indian Army. She went to Yadavindra Public School in Patiala, where she lived with her family. In 1994, Kashmiri terrorists took her father hostage and killed him. She grew up and went to Delhi Public School after her family moved to the Noida neighbourhood of Delhi. She continued her education at Delhi University’s Shri Ram College of Commerce, where she got a B.Com. with honours in business.

Nimrat Kaur’s first role was in the 2006 English movie One Night with the King, which was shot in Rajasthan. Her first Hindi movie, Peddlers (2012), was directed by Anurag Kashyap. When the movie was shown at Cannes, people liked it. After being in a commercial for Cadbury Silk, Kaur became well-known. Kaur went to the Cannes Film Festival for the second time to promote the romantic comedy The Lunchbox (2013). At the box office and with critics, the movie did well.
Irrfan Khan was praised for his role as a lonely husband who starts writing to Kaur’s character. Raja Sen of Rediff.com called Kaur’s performance “a disarmingly natural performance that is hard to forget and hard to understand, and in this small space, one can only express devotion.” Variety’s Jay Weissberg calls her a “The Telegraph’s Pratim D. Gupta says that Nimrat “strips the character of all its passion to give it dignity and grace.” This one starts off very well.” In the fourth season of Homeland in 2014, Kaur made a cameo as ISI agent Tasneem Qureishi. She agreed to work with Rajkummar Rao in a psychological drama that Saurabh Shukla would direct that same year but didn’t know the name of. Kaur plays Captain Shikha Sharma in the 2017 season of The Test Case, which is an online show in Hindi. In February 2020, she came back as a regular cast member for Homeland’s eighth and last season.
