He went to school until Class 10 at St. Thomas’ High School in Dasnagar, Howrah, and St. Aloysius High School in Howrah. Pandey ended up living in New Delhi, where he got a bachelor’s degree in English from Sri Aurobindo College.

Pandey grew up in the city of Howrah, which is in the Indian state of West Bengal. His father moved the family to Calcutta from Arrah, Bihar, where he worked for Bosch.

Pandey’s first job was with The Dalmia Group’s “Legacy Entertainment” in Delhi.
After he moved to Mumbai in the year 2000, a friend gave him the chance to be in a documentary that he was paying for. Soon after that, he began to make newsreels and commercials. After that, he and Shital Bhatia started “Quarter Inch Productions.” This is a company that makes TV shows, commercials, and documentaries. Neeraj and Shital Bhatia, who own Friday Filmworks, made his first full-length movie, A Wednesday!, in 2008. The plot of the movie was based on what happened on July 11, 2006, when three trains blew up in Mumbai.
Pandey made the movie Taryanche Bait, which came out in 2011. His first movie, Special 26, came out in 2008. Akshay Kumar and Kajal Aggrawal were in Pandey’s second movie, also called Special 26, which came out in 2013. Neeraj is a native Bengali speaker and makes movies in that language. He speaks the language well. His 2014 movie, The Royal Bengal Tiger, was all shot in Bengali. He also made the movie Total Siyappa, which starred Yami Gautam and Ali Zafar, in the same year. Pandey’s first book, Ghalib Danger, came out on December 6, 2013. This was also his first book. A movie based on the book is now being made. In 2017, he helped make the critically acclaimed movie Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, which is a funny look at the problem of open defecation in India. He also made the short film Ouch, which stars Manoj Bajpayee and Pooja Chopra and is up for a Filmfare Short Film Award in 2017.
His next movie, Aiyaary, with Manoj Bajpayee and Sidharth Malhotra, did not do well at the box office or with critics. It was his first flop as a director. He wrote, directed, and made this action thriller near the Indian border under the name Plan C Studios. Malhotra played Jai Bakshi, who was one of the main characters, and Abhay Singh, who was the other (played by Bajpayee). After working together on A Wednesday!, Naseeruddin Shah and the director got back together to work on another project. This movie was like a few of his other movies that dealt with similar topics. It was based on real events.
Pandey’s first online show, Special Ops, premiered on Hotstar in March 2020. He also directed it. The eight-part series, which was the debut of Friday Storytellers, the digital arm of Friday Filmworks, was praised by critics, who called it a triumph.
