The people in Kumud’s family now live in Nepal, but they came from India. His father was an actor and also served in the Indian army. When they were kids, he always told Kumud to try acting in Bhopal’s theatre scene.

On February 9, 2008, Kumud married Ayesha Raza in a religious service. Ayesha has been in a number of Bollywood movies, including Bharat (2004), Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety (2018), and Bharat (2019). They named their son Kabir, which is also spelled Kabbu.
